Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi is celebrated across India and abroad by Hindu families (now non-Hindus are also celebrating). Rakshi or Rakshabandhan is the festival of brother and sister. It is celebrated it is on the last day of the lunar Calendar month of Shravan. Rakshabandhan which literally means the promise of protection is celebrated every year in August month. Sisters on this day tie the Rakhi on the wrist of their brothers and brothers in return promise them to protect and be on their side forever. Sisters also pray for the happy and healthy life of the brothers. The market is full of fancy and beautiful Rakhi and sweets shops are working overtime.
